COMBATING SOCIAL ISOLATION IS MORE IMPORTANT NOW THAN EVER.

"I used to walk my dog through a nearby retirement community as I have established friendships with many of the residents. Since the emergence of COVID-19 the retirement community has established a strict no-visitor policy. In addition, social activities and group dining options have been curtailed. While these measures are necessary to protect a highly susceptible population from the virus, seniors are also disproportionately affected by social isolation.

Letters to Seniors is a fantastic idea that will meet an under-resourced need for supporting the mental and emotional health of senior citizens. Moreover, I believe that the students who volunteer their time to this program will benefit from the life experiences of their senior pen pals. I wholeheartedly support the creators of Letters to Seniors in their effort to bring students and seniors together to see each other through these extraordinarily challenging times."
